Dear Residents,

Imagine a quiet evening after dinner, ready to relax with Jeopardy or catch up on work emails, when the doorbell unexpectedly rings. You’re puzzled, not anticipating any visitors or deliveries. Could it be a package? Without hesitation, you buzz them in..

The next morning reveals the unfortunate news that two neighbors’ packages were stolen. It’s a common occurrence. The packages disappear even with cameras, package rooms, and video monitoring.

Repeatedly, we witness packages stolen from our front doors. While not the only method, it’s often the most preventable. To address this issue, here are a few hallway package theft prevention tips:

  1. Ensure doors latch securely and promptly report any issues to management.
  2. Use the interior hallway to store your and neighbors’ packages if you have a package room or vestibule door, without obstructing passage.
  3. Confirm the identity and origin of delivery personnel before buzzing them in, sharing your name if your buzzer displays only your last name.
  4. Avoid buzzing for neighbors’ deliveries.
  5. Amazon delivery personnel will ring your doorbell between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm.

Implementing these suggestions will help reduce package theft incidents in our community.
